I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately, especially after watching this whole thing with Van Jones go down, and I’ve come to the conclusion that in the next election, I will be voting third party.
While the Van Jones controversy has been transpiring, I kept wondering where is the outrage from Congress about a self avowed communist having the President’s ear. In addition to the communism thing, all of his other idiotic statements, and still, nothing from Congress. Only after public outrage got vehement and was blasted all over Fox News (who themselves were WAY behind the curve on this), did some republican Congressmen voice their opposition to Jones being in any position of authority. I wrote my Congressmen (Senators and Representative) exptressing my outrage at the lack of opposition from Congress, and more specifically, THEM on the issue. I asked them where were the patriots in Congress who took their roles and responsibilities, that We the People have charged them with – as in, upholding and defending the Constitution from ALL enemies foreign AND domestic, seriously! Where were the brave men and women in the Congress who would rise up and put their collective foot down on this administration’s ACTIVE erosion of civil rights and Constitutionality!? There was NOTHING on their sites about it. Nothing on the news (even Fox) from them about it. They were sitting back and being as quiet as the mainstream news, meanwhile Facebook, Blogs, Twitter and others were lit up and going insane crying out begging for someone, ANYONE to listen…
So the democrats are looking to take this country into the realm of socialism/communism, and the republicans are content to sit back and watch silently as the democrats drive the bus off the cliff… well, not on my watch, not in my backyard. No.
From this moment on… for the rest of my life… I will never vote for either major party again.
Democrats, you’ve lost me completely due to your policies. Republicans, you’ve lost me due to your inaction and your silence.
Goodbye two party system. I will make it my life’s goal to promote third, fourth, or even fifth parties… however many it takes.

I’m with you. In the language of drug addiction, Republicans are “enablers” – by their inaction, they enable the President to do his worst toward the Constitution. Republicans’ silence was deafening.
Since Reagan, the only two Republican Presidents were the big-government Bush father-son team – father signed the biggest tax increase (to that date) in history; son presided over the huge increase in the size of government and the erosion of the Constitution (especially the 10th Amendment). McCain would have only been worse – he was Obama-Lite – and this proves the intellectual and moral bankruptcy of the Republican Party.
We need a new alternative.
Ned
Here, here! They have all been derelict in their duties.
I absolutely agree , while third parties have failed in the past , time is ripe for a new one. It would be my greast desre to have you involved if not leading it .Keep up the good work and God Bless Patriots like you . You know , that wouldn’t be a bad name for this third party ” Patriots “
Thanks so much, y’all, for all your input! Y’all are awesome!
Count me in! I am so disgusted with these folks!
I only voted for McCain because he was the only one to vote for!
He was so out of touch with “we the people!”
I don’t care what color their skin is! I don’t care if they are from either party or outer space!
I just want them to obide by the same laws they make and make sure they abide by us!
Well I voted third party for the first time in the Bush, Clinton and Perot election.
I have also touted term limits for Congress and the Senate for over 10 years now, since I learned the number of aides has gone from apprx 5 in the “60′s, to about 100 plus today. Who did we elect? How much does it “really’ cost per house member to support them in their jobs, as they see it, for the year… not just their salaries?
If we ran our house-hold into the ground, or we were the CEO of a company and we spent more money than we had, we would be out of that job, and/or out of money. Why is it “they” are all still getting paid? Most of them do not need the income anyway, based on their taxable incomes that were “forgotten”.
Makes you really wonder, why we are just now waking up. My wake up “bam on the head”, was last September when one man handed out 700 billion plus dollars. One Man!???? Then in a classic Spongebob Squarepants’, best friend Patrick’s words.. Paulson, uh Patrick said..duuhh, uh… “We didn’t know how much we really needed… we just wanted to pick a really big number….” WHAT???? And these are the brain-iacs of our financial community? Did that not say enough for you???
Come on my fellow American’s.. Consider those that don’t see things exactly the way you do, as just not educated about what the facts are, not the enemy. If we are truly going to “change” this over bloated government’s appetite, we have to do a better job of informing, any and all that we know. Do it in a kind informative way, not in an angry reactive way. Include, don’t exclude.
Our fore fathers have done a lot more, and some have lost a lot more, than just feeling a little uncomfortable opening a discussion about our government, our way of life, our country and our God. Spread the word, share your insights, share your views, and your concerns. Listen, listen, listen to the same things from all you know. Try to influence with facts, not feelings. I know we can do it.
During the speech to the children that may or may not happen next week, one of the questions was.. Does President Obama inspire you do to anything? I would shout a resounding heck yeah from me… he inspires me to not take this wonderful country and way of life given to us by God, for granted. He has inspired me to speak to friends, inform people of the truth, and to become an active participant in our government process.
We can keep this way of life alive for our children, grandchildren and beyond, I know we can.. Thanks for waking up with me, it’s really nice and comforting to be able to share thoughts, and get different points of views.
Keep doing what your doing, but do it with more people!
God Bless you and yours and God Bless the United States of America.
What I found most peculiar in the Van Jones controversy is how loathe other high-profile conservatives were to pick it up –Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Congressional Republicans. Where were they when Jones was promising to change our governmental system and talking about “radical ends” or that he agreed with “Lenin’s critique of the party”? Nowhere. Why?
And why did they only perk up when Van Jones called Republicans assholes? Who cares?
Committed Communism: fine. Calling Republican assholes: now you’ve crossed the line.
It’s as if the conservatism of Republicans in power is just a ploy. They seem not to really mean it.
It’s not about voting thrid party either… we could end up with a Libertarian or Independent Congress just as bad. We NEED to vote individuals in, whatever party they are from, who represent our interests. We cannot vote party line like many used to. It is the parties that need the overhaul.
The only truly wasted vote is a vote against one’s principles!
“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.” John Quincy Adams
I understand were you are coming from. Just this morning, talking to my husband, I told him how I thought that even FOX didn’t seem to be to anxious to get in this fight and let Glenn Beck be hung out to dry if there was any problem. They sure climbed on board when the final shoe dropped.
I may vote for the Republicans in 2010 just to get as many Democrats out for right now.
I am sure hoping that Sarah Palin starts a new party. I think the Constitusional Party would be an excellent name for it. I would be one of the first to get on board.
It’s a war – granted I haven’t heard of anyone shooting anyone and so far that has to be a good thing – but it’s a war people! They are not destroying the constitution because they think it will be good for us. For me – any democrat who is for this fool – is guilty of contempt of and for the Constitution. They know what it says in the Constitution, they don’t care, they are for change. To me contempt of and for the Constitution makes them unqualified to represent us. When a Republican fails to say anything or call them on it, I see that as failing to protect the Constitution. That is like a collaborator. So the way I see it – we have to remove all of the traitors and collaborators who refuse to stand up for and defend the Constitution. That has to be done from within each party and there can be no room for mistakes. Do not forget, O can still declare martial law – and considering the things he has already done, don’t tell me he wouldn’t. To those who think voting for the best man for the job is the best policy – that’s what got O elected in the first place. Politicians didn’t just earn their stereotype by being lawyers. Don’t elect a lawyer or a judge – that is entirely up to you. Don’t re-elect a silent democrat or a silent republican. I wouldn’t vote for anybody who begs for my vote. If they are an asshole during the campaign, it better be for calling out the other guy because he is acting like an “Obama” socialist, cuz he won’t get my vote for sitting back and playing the game. Somebody has to make up some rules for how we can decide on our own if a guy is worth the trouble of voting for, cuz voting willy-nilly for whomever seems to be the right guy, ain’t gonna produce good results – people you have been taken once, why not assume you will be taken again and again – God help us all. I once thought O might be ok, is that sin unforgivable?
A year ago I was one of the silent that had virtually no opinion and never did anything or thought much about government. I voted Republican simply because I knew enough that Dems were suppose to believe in government spending and big government and Repubs were about small government and fiscal responsibility. The Dems hold true. They are a party I could never support. The Repubs are a huge disappointment and one that I can’t support either. The last thing I want to be associated with is “neo-cons”. I don’t know what the answer is. I want to support fiscal responsibility and constitutional adherence. But neither of those ideals are in synch with the majority of Americans with an entitlement mentality and power hungry politicians. We are screwed. Never in my life have I ever thought I would be attending a Tea Party but there I was in downtown Nashville. Never did I think I would travel hundreds of miles to a protest rally but I will be in DC this Saturday. Never thought I would have opinions but I spend time now visiting blogs, writing a blog and voicing them.
A third party may emerge from this, but the easiest way to cure this problem is at every election, if the word “incumbant” is beside the name, they gotta go.
I could not agree with you more.
The GOP does not understand political philosophy and it is showing.
Rhetoric is a very poor substitute for concepts
Voting 3rd party is only a spoiler because most people even though they state that they will not again vote for either the Repulsican or Dumbocrat party, they do. They don’t vote there conscience. They vote the lesser of 2 evils. That is the shame.
The Repubs lost me when they did the bidding of the Democratic party and the media and nominated John McCain. Then they stood by silent while the Republican Vice Presidential candidate was ravaged. They just suck. I’ve renounced my Republican identity and am now a reluctant Libertarian. As to Van Jones. Don’t think for one moment that he’s gone. BO knows full well that Jones is a radical communist and that’s just ducky with him. This man will continue to have a major influence on this disastrous administration. God help us.
I have been living this for fifteen years. Unless the mainstream media cries wolf, politicians do nothing to keep our nation free.
It’s easier to renovate a house than it is to tear it down and rebuild a new one.
I’m no defender of the GOP, but if the center-right is torn apart by a powerful 3rd party movement, we’ll be worse off.
Agreed.
How about we just make sure no current incumbent remains in office! Most have been reelected because they were currently in office and have quit working for we the people.
Thanks to Glenn Beck, I found this site. I, too am voting 3rd party. I was always afraid to “throw my vote away.” Ha! Ended up doing that anyway with my Rep. votes. Unless Reagan suddenly lands back on Earth (I wish), I will have to vote for a “Constitutionalist” candidate. BOTH parties have been hijacked and will take us to the same place eventually, just one on a freight train and the other on a jet plane. No thank you to either! Our candidates will emerge from the general population and I hope we stay real so we can see past all the expensive RNC and DNC commercials and look instead at the fliers, hear the radio ads, or whatever it takes. Of course, all that is assuming we get the CHANCE to vote again. Stay strong, people.
So you’re not going to vote major party…that means the Democrats, with their padded acorn votes, win. Smart move, for someone who hates communism…
The Democrat astroturf is rising for this article…they probably wrote it.
Typical MORON speak. We hear it more and more. Instead of cleaning house let’s go where the grass is greener.
I feel the same way. The Republican party has been far to silent and have pandered to the left for to long. Enough is enough. It’s bad enough some in the Republican party have acted like progressives, but now even the Conservatives in the party are afraid or just unwilling to take action to fight for the people.
I will consider myself a Conservative from now on until the Republicans wake up.
Ron Paul is the only person I would vote for in 2012 with a (R) next to his name.
I agree completely.
It is inexcusable the actions on one side and the inaction on the other side in working to both destroy our constitution and to fail to protect it in the same wide stroke.
Keep the faith and Godspeed.
There are patriots all over America that will not stand by and let this country be destroyed.
They tried it in the early 20th Century under Woodrow Wilson and Roosevelt – they will not get a second chance.
Vigilantly watchful
Thomas A. Hall
Third Party? Yeah, I tried that. I KNEW that G.H.W. Bush was going to win re-election, so I voted for Ross to ‘send him a message’. Boy, did he EVER get the message. It was “Bill Clinton wins!” How the hell did THAT happen? We must FIX the party we’ve got! The Republican party is sick, NOT dead. It needs an infusion of real, conservative Republicans, that’s all…
“the republicans are content to sit back and watch silently as the democrats drive the bus off the cliff”
Well, they’re tired now, they were driving the bus in that direction for eight whole years.
Been struggling with the issue of what to do w/ the Rep party. I believe in Republican principles, specifically the platform, but think most are selling out right now.
I believe they abandoned the platform a long time ago. Hell, now they are defending MEDICARE!!!
That is a joke!
They should be fighting for us, instead they are silent, wanting Americans to get angry at Dems so they can pick up more seats. It is a game to them. As long as the focus is on winning, instead of fighting for principles, we will get nowhere and the corruption will continue.
Ultimately, it comes down to selfishness vs. humble service to the country. Most politicians don’t get the service idea. Most are in for their own personal gain.
You can see just by reading these posts what happpens when people vote 3rd party. Conservatives will split and we will have Obama for 8 years. Please look back at what happened in 1992 with Perot. It’s a mistake to split our votes. Force RNC to straighten up.
I agree, as I remember 1992 and Perot. We need to get busy and start booting the Repubs out as well. I am amazed as how many conservatists are willing to run that have political experience. I’m just concerned that the election won’t be tampered with. I don’t trust any party!
So what this author is saying is that if someone like, say, Sarah Palin runs for office as a Republican, or if an individual from one of the main parties who actually will represent the people, the author will not vote for that person? That is as ignorant and short sighted as voting party line for Democrats or Republicans.
And thus..leaves a one world order in the making(first nationally, then worldly). BHO knows this, wants this and is planning for this.
Because of the state of America at this time, it appears as if this is our destiny.
Not trying to be pessimistic, but realistic. It will take a real miracle of power through prayer to reverse this. Radical thought?… Maybe.
Glenn Beck 2012!!
I’m afraid you American Conservatives are stuck between a rock and a hard, hard place. You hate the RNC for “pandering to the left”, but if you successfully bring the Republican Party back into a ‘solidly right wing’ position, how big a tent will that party be? A two-party system and “two big tents” is by definition one that constantly panders. Too bad your Electoral College essentially necessities that only two-parties can be viable.
We need to get Ron Paul to run on the Libertarian ticket. That would draw enough from both parties that it might have a chance. At a minimum, you only need a few percentage points to be taken seriously and even if we lose next time, we might be able to get him in during the 2016 election.
We just need one term really to restore the Constitution to its rightful place. Hopefully we can get the 16th amendment repealed in the process and nuke Medicare and Social Security from orbit.
“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and ensure the blessing of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
-The Preamble-
I keep a copy of the Constitution with me at all times to make sure I know my rights, and I can back them up to every Congressman I call or email.
We do need a 3rd party. One that will be for the people, and backs up the Constitution. One that ensures our eternal rights under God.
Amen!
It doesn’t matter how many parties there are, the one with the most money will always win. Until you get corporate money out of politics, nothing will change. Every politician on both sides of the aisle is beholden to the corporations who fund their campaigns. Some may say that TRUE campaign finance reform and public financing of campaigns is stifling “free speech”, but unless you kill that gravy train of corporate money, the politicians will always look to corporate America and Wall Street first, while keeping the hard working middle class and small business owners at second class status.
I’m all for voting NO Party if needed, but so far, of the independent candidates in most elections, none float my boat…
I am also sick of Republicans behaving the same as democrats. Where is Ronald Reagan when we need him most.
Not pushing it yet, because I’ve just started researching. Consider the Libertarian Party. Has support and established local presence. Stated goal is to get back to basics – protect liberty of all citizens, right to property, less government involvement, and much lower taxes. Republicans and Democrats are all about keeping themselves in office and in charge of spending your money. We need people of character in government.
