A relevant one for the times we’re in right now.
“The problem isn’t that Johnny can’t read. The problem isn’t even that Johnny can’t think. The problem is that Johnny doesn’t know what thinking is; he confuses it with feeling.” ~ Thomas Sowell
The “health care reform” – “health insurance reform” – “stealth care” (that’s mine, buddy!) or whatever you call it, is stirring up emotions on all sides. Lots of strong emotions. The problem is when emotions run high, it’s not good to make decisions that impact so much and so many for so long… these are life and death decisions… and I’m afraid those who are so vehement about their ‘compassion’ for others are confusing their strong emotions and extreme desire to ‘help others’ with actually thinking about the impact of what they’re doing.
We need to slow down and have REAL discussion about the needs and the ways to resolve the issues we’re seeing in our day… instead of ramming something through that’s half-baked and say “we’ll figure it out on the back end”… NO! Figure it out NOW and see if we can actually do it… instead of throwing something against the wall and seeing what sticks.
